What do you need to get the Golden Armor?

To get the Golden Armor, you' will first need to gather the following items in order'll first need to get the Rebreather.

However, we'd also recommend tracking down some powerful weapons, such as the Shotgun and the Pistol, along with plenty of ammo. This cave is crawling with mutants, and the Golden Armor is found quite deep within the network of tunnels.

The Golden Armor is located within the cave marked on the map below. It's to the West of the snowy mountain, in the same location as the dead cultists.

As you approach the location shown above, you'll see the cave symbol appear on your map. Smash the entrance and squeeze through the gap to get inside.

When you arrive, follow the steps below to reach the Golden Armor location:

  1. Head into the water and use the Rebreather to swim through the underwater caverns.
  2. When you reach the other side, kill any nearby mutants in the large chamber.
  3. Head through the nearby tunnel and slide down the steep slope (it's very long).
  4. Swim through the water at the bottom of the slope and continue towards the light sources nearby.
  5. Follow the hanging corpses until you find more enemies. Continue through the tunnel, killing any mutants in your path.
  6. When you come to another large body of water, follow the planks across and hop up the ledge to the other side.
  7. Head through the tunnel filled with golden structures and into the passage ahead, hopping down to the level below.
  8. Swim through the nearby body of water until you reach the light at the end, and then dive underwater.
  9. Follow the underwater passage until you emerge on the other side, and kill the mutants that run at you.
  10. Follow the gold structures along the wall until you come to a strange pedestal.
  11. Interact with the skeleton on the pedestal to the get the Golden Armor.

How to exit the Golden Armor cave

The Golden Armor cave is incredibly complicated to navigate, but you can get out easily using the steps below:

  1. Head to the torchlight near the Golden Armor pedestal and climb the rope.
  2. Walk along the ledge and climb the next two ropes.
  3. After climbing the third rope, kill the enemy in the tunnel ahead. Then, dive into the water.

  7. Slide down the steep passage into the water below.
  8. Continue through the tunnel ahead, until you come to a stream. On the far side, you'll see a golden tunnel.

What does Golden Armor do in Sons of the Forest?

The Golden Armor set does not actually offer any armor. You will still take plenty of damage in combat, so don't expect it to actually help you survive. If you're after actual armor, consider using the Tech Armor instead.

However, it is still essential, as you must use the Golden Armor to reach the ending of Sons of the Forest. This takes place in a bunker on the East side of the island, within which you'll find a strange arm door.

This door has an arm socket that you can only use while wearing the Golden Armor. Doing so will unlock the door and allow you to head further into the bunker.

Can Golden Armor break?

While the Golden Armor doesn't offer much protection, it is indestructible against enemy attacks. This means you don't need to worry about it breaking before you reach the end of the game.

However, we don't think this is a reason to use it inherently, as there are other armor types that work far better as mentioned previously. Save the Golden Armor in your inventory until you reach the final area, and then equip it to reach the end.
